Seasoned San Francisco theater critic Buzzin’ Lee Hartgrave attended the opening night performance of “Show Me Yours – Songs of Innocence and Experience” and gave the show a great review:

SHOW ME YOURS… is a fun and strikingly original musical. Each song by the players is truly compelling. Here is a brief take: “Love can be a riddle. Please meet me in the middle. This moment so rare. I choose you to share. Though, in love I’ve been scarred. Should I, drop my guard? Just me and you. One made of two.” – from Chorus one. Love this Lyric: “Maybe you’re gay. Maybe just clueless. Baby, either, You’re at the top of my to -do list! Knock! Knock” The door is open. Come on in!”

These songs of innocence and experience by Pen and Piano – The Resident Writing Company of New Musical Theater of San Francisco really know how to put words together. There are many touching moments in this musical: For instance — I loved this clip. “It’s strange. it isn’t a Ceiling or floor. It isn’t a window or door. A Tunnel that someone plans to build. A segment of space unfilled.” The lyrics alone are very intriguing — but when the lovers sing on the stage – well….it’s like anything that has ever been done on this new venue. The excellent singing by the cast just takes your breath away!

HERE IS THE STUNNING, EXCELLENT CAST! CHLOE CONDON – JACQUELINE DE MURO – TIM HOMSLEY – SHEELAGH MURPHY AND TOM REARDON. All in all, their renditions are dazzling and gripping! The enitre evening is inspiring and uplifting. You’ll feel good. DON’T MISS!

And we’ll show you ours! Join the cast of New Musical Theater of San Francisco’s latest and greatest original revue Show Me Yours – Songs of Innocence and Experience.

Tom Reardon, Jackie DeMuro, Chloe Condon, Tim Homsley and Sheelagh Murphy

Created by a group whose writing credits include off-Broadway and the West End, Show Me Yours – Songs of Innocence and Experience is a rich, nuanced examination of sex and sexuality today – and all the funny, sad, complicated perceptions, emotions and realizations that go with it. The 90-minute musical revue is directed by Ben Randle with music direction by Ben Prince.

The music for the show combines an eclectic mix of songs using the sophisticated rhythms and melodies of contemporary Broadway. The creative team, led by director Ben Randle and music director Ben Prince, has woven their work into an enthralling evening that includes such moments as: “I Googled It” – a song about using the internet to solve any sexual problem, “Too Many Eggs” – a song about how science takes a lesbian couple seeking parenthood to extremes, and “Kinky”- about an average couple whose sexual world is turned upside down by the Folsom Street Fair.

Rich, topical and original, Show Me Yours… is part concert, part musical theater, and pure enjoyment.

Performances are April 4 through 27, at 8:00 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 5:00 p.m. Sundays.

Not Quite Opera is pleased to announce casting for the new musical revue, Show Me Yours – Songs of Innocence and Experience by members of Not Quite Opera’s resident writer/composer ensemble, directed by Ben Randle.

About the show:

A funny, poignant musical cabaret about sex and all that comes with it. Featuring all original music and lyrics by Pen and Ink, Not Quite Opera’s resident writer/composer ensemble: Peter Alexander, Anne Nygren Doherty, Paul Frantz, Jerome Gentes, Richard Hefner, Richard Isen, Richard Jennings, Sandy Kasten, Andrew Klein, Ben Prince, Denise Wharmby and Pam Winfrey. Directed by Ben Randle. Music direction by Ben Prince. April 5 through 27th; Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., Sundays at 4 p.m. at The Alcove Theater, 414 Mason Street, San Francisco. Produced by Not Quite Opera Productions – soon to be known as New Musical Theater of San Francisco.

Casting the following roles (non-AEA and AEA, see “pay” below):

Actor-singers for a 5-person ensemble. All ages and ethnicities.

Saturday, January 19th, 2012 (General Auditions/by appointment only, from 10:00am)

Where:

The Alcove Theater located near Union Square at 414 Mason St., Fifth Floor, San Francisco.

Prepare:

Two contrasting songs, strict 32-bar each.

REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals begin early March and will rehearse 4 days a week (weekend daytime hours and Monday and Tuesday evenings until technical rehearsals.)

PERFORMANCES:

April 5^th thru 27^th

Thursdays-Saturdays, 8pm, Sundays 5pm

Pay: $30 per performance (14 performances total. Rehearsals and performances inclusive. No AEA contract, as the performances are considered ‘cabaret’. Non-negotiable).

Beginning on January 11, 2013, renowned voice actor, David H. Lawrence XVII, continues his fun and richly informative classes in voice acting here at the Alcove. January’s topics include: Home Voice Over Recording Gear, Auditioning with Audacity Software, directed and challenging opportunities to practice real world voice demos – as recorded by David – and much much more.

It is uncommon for The Alcove to advertise classes held in the space – although we host quite a few – but we are making an exception for David H Lawrence XVII. This is a must-do class series for serious Bay Area performers!
